A Tewkesbury mother has spoken out about the heartbreaking loss of her 24-day-old daughter, Millie Driscoll, who passed away on New Year’s Day due to a rare condition affecting her lungs. Millie was born full-term but faced difficulties from the moment of birth, including issues with lung function.
After a quick natural delivery, Millie required suction to clear fluid from her lungs, a routine procedure for babies born quickly. However, Georgia Soule, Millie’s mother, soon noticed that something was wrong. Millie’s body was not producing surfactant, a crucial substance for lung function, which led to the baby struggling to breathe. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, Millie’s little body could not fight the condition and passed away just 24 days later.
Her parents, Georgia and Jamie Driscoll, had been excited to welcome their daughter into the world, and Millie was already dearly loved by her big brother, Logan. The tragedy has left the family devastated, and Georgia shared the pain of seeing her daughter clench her fists in discomfort, a memory she will never forget, for more information click here.
