A free advice line that offers reassurance to those involved in the adult care system in Gloucestershire is being extended. Over the next two years, £136,000 will be invested into the Gloucestershire Care Advice Line, which provides support to care recipients, unpaid carers, and family members.
Funded by Gloucestershire County Council, this telephone line offers advice and information to address various questions and concerns. Jenny Cooper, the council’s head of commissioning for older people, highlighted the importance of the service, stating, “People can feel so lost, and they finally feel like they’ve got someone who can help them find their way through.”
Ms Cooper emphasised the value of human interaction, noting that the care line allows people to “actually have a telephone call with a human being.” She added, “People feel reassured when they’re actually speaking to a person at the other end. If they didn’t understand something, the other person can go back and clarify that for them.”
